Motivation vs. Inspiration

"Inspiration comes forth from within. It’s what the light burning within you is about, as opposed to motivation, which is doing it because if you don’t do it, there will be negative repercussions. Motivation is making myself do something that I don’t really want to do. Inspiration is having the clear picture of what I am wanting — and letting Universal forces come into play to get the outcome." ~Abraham

In(spire) means 'in Spirit'-->of Source, Creator, God, Universe, whatever word behooves you. More on this in a bit…

There is a radical difference between taking action from motivation or taking action from inspiration. Something we do from a sense of feeling motivated is done most often to solve a problem.

—>Feeling motivated to exercise

—>Feeling motivated to clean your house

—>Feeling motivated to get your work done

—>Motivated to take action, to change your life

You get the picture. Motivation is something we have to muster up. Motivation helps us push against a problem. Motivation comes in waves and is often unsustainable.

Inspiration on the other hand… Inspiration is a natural uprising of desire (de-sire means ‘of the Sire’) to do something, to create something to embark on something, It is your indwelling spirit, your heart, YOU feeling drawn to take action simply for the pleasure of it, the joy and expansion of it.

As children we naturally acting form a place of pure inspiration. As we developed most of us learned to squelch that natural uprising energy and shrink down our energy to create things that were more “practical” and “appropriate” and within bounds of our family structure. Ouch. ‘Practical’ and ‘appropriate’ of course being very limited judgments, not truth in any way.

Thus a major dilemma is created for us as we become adults. We become disconnected from who we truly are, we have no idea what we want or what would bring us joy. We find it hard to be playful or to take risks. We find it difficult to feel passion or purpose in our lives. And no way are we going to dream big or allow ourselves to indulge in the freedom of unlimited possibilities. Ring true?

So what do we do?

First we decide to change how we are living our lives. Second we go back and unravel the judgments that made us squash our desires down in the first place. This happens a a fairly early age. Then we start asking ourselves questions and we find our what we really actually feel inspired to do. What would be fun? What would be exciting? What did you do, play, pretend as a child before you shut down? Now, how does that compare to your life now? Next choose to change.

Ultimately we have a choice to make. We can continue barely getting by in a lackluster passionless life until we expire, OR, we can choose to say I’M DONE WITH THAT LIMITING CRAP I WAS TAUGHT AND I’M GOING TO RECLAIM MY LIFE ..NOW! Not when I think i can ‘afford’ it, not when I get ‘further ahead’, not when I’m in better shape, not when the conditions are right….you are missing the whole point if you’ve already made and excuse. Passion and a joyful life are not things that you have to EARN. Ugh! That is the misconception and the brainwashing that has successfully held people in bondage and slavery for thousands of years. It has gripped the hearts and souls of the masses.

It’s a lie. All you have to do is choose something else. Choose to do the healing on yourself NOW. Not later. Now is the time. The planets are aligned. The cosmic tumblers have clicked into place. The once invisible bridge to a whole new life of happiness has appeared and is waiting for you to take a step.

Will you?
